K-Mart Corporation is based in Troy, Michigan. They were formed in 1977, from the (2) chains of department stores started originally by Sebastian Spering Kresge - the SS Kresge Company and the Kresge-Newark store chains.

This national retail chain has marketed many brands of diecast and their own house brands, made by other makers, throughout its business time line. More than likely the following diecast brands were marketed by K-Mart at one point, but as is noted by the diecaat encyclolpedia listings - an unspecified relationship or business assocation with Maisto, Megatoy, Motormax, Play Power Ltd, (WT) Tintoys and Yat Ming with K-Mart is noted. Another reference is made to Ertl and Racing Champions but, this may also be related to them as the merged company of RCErtl and their 2006 offering listed below.

Each of the above companies may have also provided castings to K-Mart for their in house labeled brands as are specified by the diecast encyclopedia listed information reflected below.

In the late 1970s, they offered a semi tractor/trailer rig labeled with the Kmart brand logo made by Universal and Road Champs castings also with the Kmart logo on the blister card.

In 2006, they offered RCErtls "Route 66, Get Your Kicks" series. The "Just Kidz" line and playsets featured Summer castings.

More recently they have been known for their K Day events held in conjuction with Mattel's Hot Wheels brand.

In 2017, they declared bankruptcy and have been closing their stores systematically across the country.
