This is not another recommendation for Moebius to add stuff to their Jupiter 2 model, just an aftermarket possibility or a case of total optical illusion on my part. But take a look at this page. Scroll down and there's a bunch of photos of the full-size J2 mockup on the Fox lot. The first and fifth photos are from "Visit to a Strange Planet" I think, where the Jupiter 2 lands on earth in the 40s.

Am I crazy or is there a giant antenna array sticking up out of the ship from the rear starboard quarter? I would have assumed this was just something sticking up from BEHIND the ship but in both photos it appears to be sitting on TOP of the hull. Does anyone know what this is? I know we see smaller pop-up antennae from the circular hatches over the front of the ship's nose at a couple of points but this thing is kind of huge and it seems odd someone hasn't come up with a complete history of this object so I must be hallucinating...

They added that radar antennae to the full sized Jupiter 2 for the episode Visit To A Hostile Planet. It was never used before and never mentioned again -- like many of the devices on the show. It would be housed in the rear ceiling port which is acually above the elevator. The original concept was to have a clear bubble which would come out of that area for star charting. There were blueprints made for it but it was never used.

That's what I thought--I do remember noticing that as a kid when I watched the show. I wonder if anyone could get a clear enough view of it to do an aftermarket addition. It does add some nice detail to the otherwise simple shape.
