In November, 1984. Musclecar Review magazine printed an article that
listed the Fifty fastest musclecars produced in America.
immediately, it caused controversy. Some 'Ringers' and very limited cars were not on the list, like Yenko Chevelles, and Camaros, Royal Bobcat GTO's, Dana 427 Camaros, did not make the list due to their limited availibility.
The article has been reprinted a few times, and it is one of my favorite
lists of all time.
I have tried to build 1/24 scale models of each one of the cars on the list,
and after many years and only 25 cars built, it may be tough to complete.
While reading through this list of musclecars, it occurred to me that Johnny Lightning makes almost everyone of them in 1/64 scale.
and it would be killer to get this set together.
So, My Quest begins.

My plan is to take a 48 car case from Plano, and fill it with the Fifty.
Well, 48 anyway. There are a couple of cars on the list that may be
impossible to obtain in 1/64 scale,
(#18-- 1964 Dodge Polara 500 /13.70 @ 107 mph) and I'm going to try and keep this ALL Johnny Lightning.
I may require some assistance in my quest, and I will post on the Swap and Sell board with items that are not in my collection.
No WL's, just JL mainline cars, from across the series.
Sure would appreciate any help from fellow members of the JL Board.

Yeah, need a list to really help out.

Sounds like a cool idea! The Plano carriers to have two extended slots, so you may be able to fit all 50 in one case.

Good luck & post pics!

Nope, that won't work. Plano assumes you will put 2 cars in the extended slots, and that's how they get the number 48. There's just no way to get 50 JLs in one of those Plano 48 car cases. I know you knew that, maybe you just needed another cup of coffee.

68 h/o... ack, RC2.. you hear that? we need a 68 H/O!!! (hint hint, you just made the casting!)

I'm suprised the 69 H/O wasn't on that list... you'd figure since it had the 455 just like the 68... *shrug* .,.. aftger further research, it missed it by .1 seconds...

1969 Hurst Olds Cutlass (CL)
455ci/380hp, 3spd auto, 3.42, 0-60 - 6.2, 1/4 mile - 14.1 @ 100.1mph

Didn't RC; through their mint series; try to do the 50 fastest a few years ago? I don't think all of them were done. I have a 65 or 66 Galaxie from that series somewhere..

okay, here is the update:
went through my stuff, and the count is 31.
32 if you count the 340 'cuda I have sitting in the #4 slot, need a '70 hemicuda.
I agree, some of the cars will be difficult to find.
Now I will post a wanted list on the swap and sell board, for the 19 cars still needed.
I opened alot of cars this afternoon, and put all 31 in a brand new 48 car case.
its sure interesting to see these cars gathered together.
Now the real quest begins.......filling those 19 slots. :)

Definitely count me in. I'll help in any way I can. You were a big help with my American Glory quest so it's the least I can do. I'll check the S&S forum. Hope I have stuff to help you out. Cool quest, by the way!
