Hello to all! Joe's Hobby Barn in Terre Haute will be running the first race of the season May 6. They will be racing every weekend of the summer untill the end of September, Mostly on Sundays, the exceptions being Mothers day, Fathers Day, Memorial day, Labor day weekends, when racing will be on Saturday.
We have a club now at Joe's, and encourage racers to join the club, but it is not required. Part of the club activity has been to change the track and drivers stand this year. The drivers stand has been moved to the other side of the track and made taller. this makes it easier to come from your pit to the drivers stand. AMB transponders can now be used, however our system does not support personal transponders, only the ones we will provide. The track is much longer this year as well.

There are some new rules for this year as well,
1. All nitro vehicles must be equipped with a fail safe or throttle return spring, and must demonstrate that it works.
2. turn marshalling is mandatory for every driver after you have run your race
3. We are racing to have fun!

I will post more later

I just wanted to bringEveryone up to speed on the racing at Joe's.
Joe's Hobby Barn and Raceway is located on Springhill rd. about a mile East of SR 41. From I-70 go south on SR 41 four stoplights to Springhill, turn left (east) and go about a mile, Joe's is on the left, just before the RR tracks. The track opens at 10:00am and racing will begin at 1:00pm. We run 2 heats and a main. Cost for racing is $15.00 first car and $10.00 for each additional vehicle. The hobby shop is open 10am to 6pm every day, the # is 812 299 5773.
We have a new drivers stand and it is on the opposite side of the track than before. It is much higher as well ( 8' to the deck) ((don't be scared)). The track is all new as well, a long straight in front of the drivers stand and several jumps in it. Around the motocross style track will be a dirt oval incorporating the long straight in front of the drivers stand. We are hoping to attract new racers this season, so if you are new to racing, or a seasoned veteran, come on out to Joe's this summer for some great racing action!!

Snake racing
After the mains have been run, Joe's runs a "snake" race. If you don't know what that is, it is a race where you can run ANY vehicle you like- no restrictions! There are no turn marshalls, and the race lasts for 5 minutes. You have to be fast, avoid the wrecks, and keep from wrecking yourself to win- very challenging! It costs an extra 2 bucks, but the winner gets a trophy at the end of the race. Come on out to Joe's and give it a try!!
May 6th is the first race, then the next weekend is Mothers Day, so we will be racing on Saturday that weekend.

Hello again everybody! The racing at Joe's this summer has been great! We have a more spread out points system this year, and this Sunday, June 24th will be the 2nd points run for 1/8 buggies and truggies. The points calculations are different this year as well, 100 points for 1st place ( in the main event only, heat races don't count for points) 95 for 2nd and so on. Top Qualifier from the heat races gets 2 points. At the end of the outdoor racing season, in September, trophies will be awarded to the top 3 in points, and the rest will get plaques.
Sunday, July 1st will be a trophy race. Bring your racer and lets have some fun!

OK I am bringing this thread back from the dead. There will only be 7 more races at Joe's this summer. This weekend, Aug. 12 is a fun run. Beginning Aug. 19 there will be a points series for 5 weeks with one throw-out. Aug. 19th, 26th,(no racing on Labor DAY) Sept. 9, 16th, and 23rd are the dates for the points series races. All classes will race every Sunday for points, 30 points for first in the "A" main, 28 for 2nd, and so on. "B" main winner will recieve 14 points, 12 for 2nd and so on. After the point series races, September 30th will be the race-off of champions from the first and second points series with trophies and plaques for all who participate. Also on the 30th we will be having a cookout/ party. So if you are looking for a place to run in west/ central Indiana, or east central Illinois come to Joe's and bring your RC Truck, buggy, or whatever and lets RACE!!!
