Turn the Matchbox casting over and look on the base.
MB castings usually have the scale such as 1:70.

JL castings are 3" scale.
As Jeff Koch pointed out in a discussion, Tom Lowe didn't do JLs in 1:64 scale.
He had castings made to look good with the wheels or to find the packaging.

I have both castings but have never put them together to compare.

That's why I asked. I just checked and the MB has the scale on the bottom and, although hard to read due to the chrome plating, is definetly 1:7 something.

1:64, 1:69, 1:70, 1:72

I have also heard 3" scale for models in the 1:64ish size.
Also the manufacturers take liberties with the models for production & licensing reasons.

3" scale (1:64, 1:69, 1:70, 1:72)
