I'm working on a John Deere CS81 chainsaw that came in not running. So far I have cleaned the carb (twice), changed spark plugs (twice), replaced the fuel line, removed and checked the muffler. The compression is good (150) and the cylinder looks good, though the piston does have some scoring. At this point it will pop every time you try to start it, but won't run. After pulling for a while spark plug is wet (but will still pop when pulled). I've messed with the carb settings, tried starting at WOT as well as idle and just can't get it to run.

Thoughts???

Perhaps an air leak. I would take a good look at the rubber intake tube between the carburetor and cylinder for a possible leak as well as both crankshaft seals.

Best of Luck...
