For those who have built more than one 18 inch 'regular' or 22 inch ERTL Cutaway kits, or ERTL Refits: Do you prefer joining the saucer to the secondary hull first, or the warp nacelle pylons first..and why?
I forgot who, but someone on the forum(s) had built more than 10 in their hobby history.

I've put on the pylons first since I had the secondary hull in a jig. The neck was mounted onto the saucer first also. It was easier to plumb the engines using my jig method. Then after the saucer and neck were joined, it was simpler to feed the wiring into the secondary hull from the neck and work on them from inside the deflector area.

I'll dig up a Pic of the jig I made. Ha! Found it. It's not pretty but it works just fine.
