Hi Friends.

"Cannot improve on perfection
... or even on, near-perfection."

Yeah ...
I've heard that said a few times.
And these way-cool VW castings,
both as originally made, seemed
to be "near-perfect" as possible.

Well ...
The bus's original wheels were nice.
But, wanting a hint of "kuztomz-rod"
on the bus, I swapped its wheel-set.
That mod, alone, seemed fine.

And ...
The Karmann's rear exhaust pipes
extended straight back, which (on
a 1:1 version) would've positioned
them too low ... with what looked
like inadequate ground-clearance.

So ...
Both pipes were retained, but ... ...
路 their tips drilled out, the shallow
holes were blackened, and the tips
were beveled.
路 then both pipes were bent slightly
upward, aft of the muffler-housing.

Nothing major ...
But sometimes, tiny details can
sure make a big difference.

Thank you for viewing.
Cheers and Smiles ...

J'

The mod to the pipes on the Ghia makes a huge difference! Never would have guessed before seeing it. Nice work!
Thank you, my friend.
Very kind praise on your part.

I'm always amazed by how much
of a difference a single seemingly
minor mod can make on a casting.

Even a simple wheel-swap (only)

Yeah... I like the Ghia wheels too. Looks like they're going fast at a stop. The bus looks pretty well proportioned beside it..
Thank you ...
or rather, thank Mattel.
It was released with those cool rims.

And yes ... the bus and Ghia really do
look to be in accurate scale together.
