I have heard rumors that PL will not make more Trek kits after the 1701 and the scorpion. Does anyone have any reliable news on this?

There have already been more announced as coming in 2005. A 1/1000 scale (Ugh!) NX-01 is known to be one, scheduled for release in June.

I just hope that they have it long enough to release the 1/350 original 1701.

From what I understand PL bought a 10 year license. Whether or not RC2 let's them put it to use past next year is anyone's guess.

Bull! Activision sued Paramount to get out of thier 10year deal because Paramount wasn't making good shows and was making Activision's games bomb. Where the logic is, I do not know.

When PL first got their license I heard that it was for 3 years. This gets the through 2005. In truth, only someone from PL would be able to disclose that information.

Didn't AMT have a perpetual license? Or was it only good till the end of the century?
However long it was for, we know they let it lapse just before the RC buyout. So, perpetual? No. I imagine they just kept renewing it as long as they were making money.
