There have already been more announced as coming in 2005. A 1/1000 scale (Ugh!) NX-01 is known to be one, scheduled for release in June.

I just hope that they have it long enough to release the 1/350 original 1701.

OK coby, I'll amend my statement.
I believe that only an idiot would buy or sell a 10 year license.
The toy/game/hobby market's attention span is not long enough for any property (and yes, I include Star Wars/Trek in this opinion) to support enough sales to make a license profitable for that long a period.

However long it was for, we know they let it lapse just before the RC buyout. So, perpetual? No. I imagine they just kept renewing it as long as they were making money.
