Greetings from a Newbie making first post.

How reliable are these camshafts? I have only seen one failure and am interested in how often or why these camshafts can fail

From what I have seen they are very reliable. I have seen several broken at our shop but it has always been a result of what the engine drives locking up.(Compressor pumps or pressure washer pumps)

We see many other failures on the engines besides the cam gear.

I have read they have soft cranks that bend easily but I would be very interested in learning about the engines other weak points.

I have looked at these engines and I can not imagine any way that a engine could be built for less cost.

My intent is is to install a variable event valve mechanism on the intake valve. Would really appreciate any thoughts anybody might have on this subject
