The new track surface and with most teams choosing the soft tires predomentially - will make like it is a first time race. I like the new off camber turn 15 configuration as well.

Should be late enough to where I won't spoil anything, but if you ain't watched the F-1 Shoe errr show read no further.

Wow.... That was interesting. I can't really blame Vettel for that crash. Verstappen left a hole. Vettel filled it. Then Rosberg closed the door on the whole field. If Nikki could have squeaked out a couple more seconds I would have got my third pick for third. Kind of through the back door. But bull frogs DON't have wings. Pretty darn good race even if HASS put it in a double crapper.

My DVR didnt pick up the race this morning - so I have avoided this thread to catch the rebroadcast this evening - after NASCAR from this afternoon.

That was an interesting race! Poor Hammy blew up (snicker-snicker). I dont think Nico could have even seen Vettel coming up the inside and if Max hadnt of slowed up - Vettel would have probably taken all 3 of them out for sure.

Congrates to Red Bull on their finish and to Roseberg for placing 3rd! :D

Rosberg should have been a non-issue. He had plenty of room to the left. Of course hind sight is 20/20. And it's probably considerably worse from the cockpit of an F-1. I backed it up and went frame by frame. Out of all involved, imo, Vettel was the least at fault.

http://www.formula1.com/en/video.htm

At around 0:11 to 0:12 Verstappen moves well towards the center of the track leaving a huge opening for Vettel. By 0:14 Vettel is well beside the Red Bull. At 0:15 Verstappen contacts Vettel's Rear left wheel. At 0:14 Roseberg realizes he's about to lose second to Vettel and attempts to drop down in front of the whole field appearing to crowd Verstappen which causes the contact with Vettel.

The reason I make a deal of this is, Verstappen was very vocal from the cockpit. Maybe trying to shift blame for his own dumbass move? "Nature abhors a vacume." So seems to be the same with F-1. You can't leave a gap like that on a start and not expect someone to fill it.

This link to the start evidently doesn't work. It was the smoothest video of the ones I looked at. So if you want to see frame by frame you'll have to go online to find it. Sorry.

I understand your viewpoint, but Vettel should also have know better - that he could not have made that turn radius - at that rate of speed - knowing (ie visually seeing) there were already two cars going around the turn in front of him - before he filled the open gap. Vettel was just as vocal about Max doing the same bone headed move in the previous race. I havent watched it in slow motion or frame by frame and didnt know Vettel actually made contact with Verstappen as well. Hobbs called it during the incident, but I thought he had actually missed Max. Anyway, Nico got very lucky in not getting any damage and being able to finish the race.

Did you get any indication from your review why Verstappen wasnt more to the inside already?

i am lucky to experience sit in real mclaren f1 car years ago on sponsor event at first time f1 stage at singapore.
it is not that year car, but the decal is similar with everything there except, the u shape cover left and right cockpit, that usually put on after the driver sit.
it is amazing how those driver can drive so fast with very limited view to front, left or right side.
I don't use helmet already hardly see clear inf ront of me, how about plus use helmet. big thumb up for those f1 driver!
the left and right mirror is so small, and maybe little vibrate when on certain speed.

I'll throw those other two bones in the bag for Austin. Honestly I don't think they'd even been a factor for picking Japan.... Never saw that Vettel thing coming. Not in a million years. That was a game changer. Mercedes is doing fine on it's own with out the help of the FIA giving it preferential treatment.

Dang ! HASS was so close again to getting more points.

10th spot HASS. In The Bible, this is called "child like faith."
