Finally got around to building the Moebius HAL 9000 kit.

Took a couple hours longer than expected due to trying to get the frame to look good, all my silver and aluminum paints kept coming out too grey, what made it lighten up was a light coat of pearlized white over the silver paint.

White glue holding the big lens still has to clear but figured I'd take the photos now anyway.

Looks good! I used Tamiya gloss aluminum for my frame, but it came out a bit more grey also.
It sounds like you clear pearled just the frame? Good idea.

What type/size LED did you use? It looks a lot more accurate than others I have seen before.
It's the LED that comes with the kit, prewired with a switch and 9V battery connector.

Since I didn't see a resistor anywhere and the look of the LED is different than I've seen before (very bright and even brightness over the dome of the case) I went on digikey and did some searching. I'm guessing this is a 9V red diffused LED, pricey for a small LED at $1 ea.

Today all the white glue around the lenses has cleared.
