I stopped into a really good Hobby shop in Mineola on LI that I've been
visiting for many years. It's not an old type shop, very modern, although
family run for a long time. They used to have a dirt RC track on lower
level which has since been replaced w/a small 60's commercial 1/24th slot
track, train layout & games, used for party rentals only. The 1st floor has
assorted scale trains, models, die cast, books, paint/tools & supplies.
I was surprised to see so many favorite car & monster models that have been
re-issued from the good old days. The 2nd floor is for many different scale
RC boats, cars, planes & heli's, with a good assortment of slot cars & sets.
Around Christmas, in the center of the 2nd floor, a 4 lane Carrera track is
set up & decorated for display. The track is down now, but they have a large inventory of 1/32nd cars & sets displayed.
There are some varied HO sets,
AW, Mega-G & Tomy cars available but the allotted HO space seems to dwindle
in favor of larger slots with each visit. Still, a great shop to visit. :)

Willis Hobbies, right? I remember I stopped in there once years ago on a trip to LI and picked up a couple of JL pullbacks. I always mean to get there again when I visit family, but I haven't had the chance...

Yes Rick, certainly is Willis Hobbies. Many years ago they're original shop
was on Willis Ave & relocated to a different location on Mineola Blvd.
From there they moved back to Willis Ave, a larger store but smaller than
the current location they have now across the street. A good Hobby shop
to visit & they mail order too!
