Gordon Cooper, one of the original astronauts, has died a the age of 77. "Gordo" was the youngest of the group. He piloted the 6th and last Mercury mission as well as flying for Geminii.

I know it's OT but there doesn't seem to be a forum that fits anymore and I think it needs to be noted. Another hero of my youth is gone.

A sad day. Really interesting since I just watched the From the Earth to the Moon series on TV this weekend. Man those guys were amazing.
