From Freddie.
Many have asked what we will be doing for the 500 this year. It is true that the first year or two was a one-day event but then it grew, and we started making it a two-day event.
Last year we didn’t hold the 500 due to the NCS race being the following weekend. This year we have something different to offer everyone. In years past those who have been here know we put on a feast second to none. We have had bands for entertainment. Lets just say the event was well worth the trip everyone kept making.
This year we have worked with a number of Corporations to bring you a different 500 for 2012. Summit Racing Equipment has joined us to bring you the 500 this year. They also have sponsored our 2012 points series. The Cleveland IX Center has also joined us to bring you the 2012 Points series.
This year the 500 will be a one-day event. It will be held Saturday July 7th. We will start single car qualifying at noon. Now that we have lights we can go further into the evening. In years past we have raced all classes. This year it is going to be a Sportsman race only. This will make it easier for myself, and help with the time frame. In years past it has drawn the best racers in the country and I feel we shall continue with that trend this year as well.
We are making this a Pizza, Hamburger, Hotdog race. Its not that I do not have a taste for baby back ribs, it is just once everyone leaves you had nothing but some great memories. This year I want you to be able to take something home with you.
With our sponsors we will be able to give away prizes. Jr Quarterscale, has joined up with Bishop Racing, to bring you a complete Vision Cage Car Roller ! minus engine.
All racers will receive one $ 10.00 raffle ticket with your entry. Then they may purchase as many as you would like for an additional $ 10.00 per ticket. After all the qualifiers, and prior to running the 500 we will draw and give away Summit Racing and Freddie’s Hobbies gift certificate’s. Then for one lucky winner, we will draw for the Vision Cage Car. You have to be present in order to win.
If by any chance it rains on Saturday the 7th we will hold the race on the 8th Sunday.
The last 500 took one hour and 7 minutes. We only had two cautions. We will be running green flag pit stops as years past to give it that extra element of strategy. We will be starting 15 cars this year. Four will be bumped up, and one racers choice. It is going to be exciting, fun packed. And for some lucky individuals they will be taking home some great things.
Once again lets thank our sponsors; Summit Racing Equipment, Bishop Racing Products, The Piston Power Show, and Jr Quarterscales.
I wish everyone a safe and fun racing season !
