One thing about foam tires thats changed since I last raced R/C cars is the gray inside on foam tires. What is that alll about? Whats the purpose? It seems that that part of the tire is softer than the black part of the tire. Are these race tires or recreation tires?

Q-Ball, the split color is on spec tires, for legends and street spec, make it real easy to tech. Some track use them in over classes to try to keep cost of racing down.

lower performance?

So does that mean also that there is lower performance from green rears and blue fronts that are all spec tires as compared to green rears and blue fronts that are not spec?

My Opinion; That grey band is worthless mud with no traction value at all! so basicly you wind up running on a narrower tire that on most tracks has less traction and wears faster, your better off spending a couple more bucks for the non spec tires if your rules allow. Thats My opinion having wore out a truckload of Bolinks and Trinitys Spec foam tires
