Empire International Ltd was located in Tarboro, North Carolina. They are a trademark brand of Carolina Enterprises.

In the late 1970s, they their "Speed Runners" series made in Taiwan. These 'self powered" (?) "turbo cars!" were issued on individual blister cards. On the reverse side of the card a single and double loop track set is shown called "Speed Runner Race Set".

One example known is the BMW M1. It is noted to be similiar to an ERTL casting, but the rear engine cover on the Empire International version opens to reveal the castings internal motor. The year date of 1978 is found in Roman Numerals on the base.
