Great looking ambulances... I always wondered how they came up with inverted door seams. Quite unusual.
It is easier and cheaper to cut a groove in the mould in order to make the outlines to doors than to remove lots of material leaving raised lines on the mould for door.From 1956-1968 Lesney used these raised outlines for doors,hoods and trunks on all 1-75 series and Kings.In 1968 the #25 Cortina and #53 Zodiac were the first new models to feature more realistic engraved seams around parts that open on the 1:1 and this has been the way subsequent new models have been designed.
