Hi Gang,

I was just wondering if anyone collects old Aurora paint or model glue? It seems like some neat stuff to display with old kits. I have managed to find one dried up old tube of Aurora glue over the years and I display it with my kits. I have not been able to locate any Aurora labeled paint or liquid cement. Did Aurora offer supplies other than glue and paint? Does anyone have any pics to share?

Thanks for the info!

You see it on eBay fairly commonly. Someone was selling a whole box of cement not too long ago. I assume its dried up, but would be a good display piece.

I recall seeing an Aurora ad for Humbrol paint at one time. So in addition to their on meager Speed Dry Enamel line they glommed on to the Humbrol series at some point. I doubt that was relabeled... just what they recommended.

I'd love to be able to collect Aurora paint and glue!! As far as I can figure, we never got them in Australia, though I could be wrong. I can remember in the '60s and '70s using Airfix glue and Humbrol enamels, but I can't ever recall seeing Aurora supplies apart from the kits themselves.

I remembering getting a box of Monster Colors paints with a Haunted House picture on the box...maybe Christmas 1965??? They were Humbrol Tins...wish now that I'd have hung onto the box...but back then the packaging was just something that got between you and slapping paint on your newest Monster Model and the box hit the trash can at 90MPH...:p

PS....I do have 9 old bottles of model paint from the 1950's...skinny bottles 1/2 inch square and 1 1/2 inches high but no description on the white tin screw on cap...still liquid paint in them ! I'll try to post pictures this weekend

From reading the various Aurora history books, I believe that at first Aurora issued Humbrol paints in box sets with the Humbrol name on the tins. Then later they got a company with a name something like New Jersey Paint & Lacquer Co. to produce paints with the Aurora name on the bottle. The Monster paint set with the Haunted House box contained tins with the Humbrol label, I think.
But someone who has re-read the book more recently is welcome to correct me!
