Located in Sylvania, Ohio, Classic Metal Works was founded by William J. Giacci in 1997 and began making diecast cars in 1997.

The first models were made in 1:24 scale.

In 2000, they began making their "Mini Metals" series available in both 1:87 (HO) and 1:160 (N) scale ranges. They are based on vehicles from the post WW II era to the 1970s. Castings are highly detailed and fitted with rubber tires. Each comes in multiple real word liveries from those time periods and now includes hot rods, police cars, semi truck and trailer rig singles/sets, shipping containers, and other commercial type trucks.

They also make many stationary and truck load materials and containers, bill boards and other building accessories for model railroading that are suitable for dioramas built in these scales.

Classic Metal Works is now a part of the Round 2 LLC family.
