Climate controlled storage

Hey guys,

I'm moving out of my dad's house here in the next week, and he's selling the house here soon(hopefully). I can't take really any of my collection with me aside from a few small displays. He's going to be getting a storage unit for the things he doesn't/can't take with to wherever he moves in to..whether and apartment or condo...and said I'm more than welcome to drag all my crap there.

He asked if any of the cardboard cards or boxes will be affected by extreme hot/cold weather that IL seems to have every year, and I had no clue really.

Would the cardboard cards/boxes warp or get damaged by sitting in IL winter/summer weather? Or would it be best to get something climate controlled?

I live in California and have never had any problems with the climate out here " But " I bought a patial collection of RC Cars from a Seller 3 years ago in your area IL State and this is what I recieved.... I did manage to get my money back as the Seller tried to play dumb in not knowing anything was wrong with his collection.

This collection was stored away and this is how 75% of the Cars looked when I recieved them.

You may want to think twice before storing your collection where you live as I had to toss over 3/4 of that collection as the Cars literally fell apart in my hands.... Doors, Hoods fell off - Tires were split - Windshields faded... You get the idea as my pictures explain what will happen.
