Just talked to a friend in Tampa, latest Predictions is it's going to be south of Tampa, but the rain is falling there now. He said he was stocked up on Beer and Movies. If the electricity goes out, he's prepared too, not sure what that meant.

We survived Charley . . .

I was 40 miles from the eye. We have five trees down here and that is just about it. Neighbors lost roofs, sheds etc. Lots of signs damaged. Our power was out for about 25 hrs. Time to clean up. This is my fisrt one since I went through one up in Tampa when I was about 8 (46 now). The wind blew hard and steady for about 1 1/2 hours. Then it blew like a bad thunder storm for a couple more hours. I thought sure the windows were going to blow in on us. Everything held. Huge clean up ahead. Still beats snow:p

I was gettin' nervous for a bit. My house, older wood frame with a tall gable facing south, would have probably peeled off the property like bark from a dead tree.... But the turn at Captiva and Punta Gorda left us not only safe, but it barely rained here. I had my grandparents from Weeki Wachee stay with us, 'til it was gone.

I feel terrible for those who suffered down south a ways, though. It was bad.
