Ok, I actually opened the box and primed the base walls. I'm shooting for a Roger Corman style castle with dark blue walls. I had thought about giving these a black wash, but I kind of like the way they look now. After I paint the reflected torchlight and drybrush some light blue highlights, I think this will turn out just fine.

Primed with Krylon gray, the base coated a very dark blue (Ceramcoat phthalo blue). I am in the process of dry brushing reflected light from the torch onto the back wall. And yes, Moebius and Monarch both put out really cool atmospheric bases.

Another great Monarch kit and I'll be keeping an eye on your build of it. I did mine about a year ago and it got a merit award at Wonderfest earlier this year so I must have done something right on it. And it will be interesting to see what that "Corman" look does for it.

After some drybrushing of torchlight, I am here with the base (and still can't get my links to work).
I click on the add image icon in "reply," up pops a box with "http://," I cut and paste the address.... and am rewarded with X boxes. Auuuuughh!

I'm doing something wrong when I post the image. There's a little icon which says "insert image" that I am not using properly. :(

Anyhoo...

I'll post annoying links to my album:

I basecoated the wall in deep blue so it would look like a castle from a Roger Corman Poe movie. I then drybrushed on torchlight colors following the pattern laid down in the directions. Light blue drybrushing simulates moonlight.

The colors look great! I love the thought process that is going on with the builds in this forum! Super!

When I first tried posting photos I had trouble as well. Then I figured out that I had to delete the "http://" that was provided in the address box where you paste your link. Could that be the problem?
