Based in Furth, Germany, Bruder Toys had an American office located in Redondo Beach, California. They originally made brass reeds for musical instruments staring in 1926.

From the 1980s and 1990s, they made a range of simple plastic 1/87 scale passenger car models.

In the mid 2000's, they were still making large scale plastic, farming, and construction models. They also had introduced a line of 1:64 scale farm equipment in 2005.

They had made various other items through the years and as with many other toy companies production was eventually transferred to the Far East.
