Hi all ,

I was looking for some advice on repairing my lawnmower... It is a quite old b and s engine. Recently I was able to replace the pull cord which was a simple matter of resetting the pulley underneath which had slipped. Since I have done this though I have had to place gas directly into the slot for the carb ( at least i think its the carb) on the side to get it to fire. I replaced the spark plug thinking it could be an issue there but it will start then die after running and the spark plug isn't wet like it should be with gas. I should mention to get to the pulley i probably unwisely took every thing off including the gas tank... Is the throttle assembly the culprit , Is it hard to replace?
Thank you ! for any advice... <---Just really trying hard to use what I have instead of giving up.

Hello and Welcome to Hobby Talk.Could you post the numbers from your engine so we know what type of carb you have. They will be stamped into the shroud near the spark plug or on a sticker on the side of the motor. It sounds like the carb will need a cleaning and some one will help you once we have the engine numbers.

128802-0898-01 95100359 I should mention I bought this from a very nice elderly gentleman who was very handy and may have changed who changed the throttle part i think. I also ran over it this winter so its a little bent but it worked fine before I changed the pull cord. Thanks !

Here is a link to the carb I believe you have. The bowl nut has holes in it that need to be absolutely clear since it regulates gas flow through the carb.If the float bowl is filled with dirt when removed, you may have to disassemble and clean the complete carb.Try just cleaning the float bowl nut first.

Here is a link to the service manual, just in case you need more info.
