Taking the hint from Dreamer, I've started this thread.

Does anyone UK based have any suggestions what I can use to strip the paint off of my old Ertl Enterprises? The Castrol stuff sounds good but I don't know if it's available here.

Put your parts in some plastic baggies, shoot a liberal amount of oven cleaner on them and let them sit. Wear rubber gloves 'cause that oven cleaner will eat your skin off as well.Any remaining paint will come off with a toothbrush and some elbow grease.

robcomet,
I don't know it this stuff is available across the pond, but if it is, try it.

I just removed paint from a 1958 Aurora Porthos kit. I put a few pieces in an old plastic food container, sprayed the stuff on somewhat thick then covered with the lid and waited 24 hrs. or so. All of the old paint came off and most of it just slid off. During the rinse I lightly scrubbed with a toothbrush to get in the crevices.

This stuff is not nearly as noxious/caustic as oven cleaner. I hope this helps.
