Hi all,

Wondering what the 3 digit number stands for after the series number. For example the 64 Ferrari is marked 1368-298. What does the 298 stand for? Color?

Thanks, Brian

That's it, the price.

Funny how prices some prices have changed since then, and others not so much. Real cars - if you can compare then to now - are about 10 times as expensive. Those slots that were 3.00 then are now retail for 7x - 8x higher for similar cars.

When I first bought Hot Wheels as a 9 year old, they were 99 cents plus tax. I remember counting out the change from my yard cutting pay and birthday money. They are still 99 cents plus tax, more or less..... shows how Mattel could afford to own Saturday morning TV back then, doesn't it?

That makes sense. Yep, remeber as a kid paying $3 a car and being shocked to see the new AFX cars were $4. If only I new back then...

Thanks, Brian
