Before I tossed out an 'shot' portable CD player that I use at my work station....I decided to scrounge for small screws and tidbits. The Drive motor for the laser tracker works at a perfect speed at 1.5 volts! and the motor for the disc can be used for other things like aircraft props etc.

I plan on using the worm gear drive for my 1/12 Captain Cardboard EVA Pod.

All I did was reverse the battery polarity to make it go left to right....with the right kind of relay and two micro switches this thing can do many cool opperations. There is one super small micro switch on it already.

Not to mention these things are a dime a dozen at thrift shops!

I just had to share....Hope you can use these ideas!

pardon my ignorance, but what are you using it for in the Pod?

Good question.

The rear door.....it open and closes very smoothly.....some have motorized thiers in the past and the speed of the gear is perfect.

I'm going to make a custom display base of the 'POD BAY' floor w/ launch rails and I will most likely put the worm gear system inside the base.
