Located in Tokyo, Japan, the Asahi Trading Company (ATC) aka Asahi Gangu Seisakusho was founded in 1948.

In the lated 1940s, they began making tinplate toys.

Asahi's "Model Pet" (モデルペット) series of die-cast vehicles was introduced in 1959 as a range of model cars, trucks and motorcycles in 1:43 scale. They continuted in production until about 1972.

At the end of the 1970s, they introduced a 1:55 scale series with opening doors, solid silver hubs wheels and well done striping details. Each casting came in a window box.

By 1979, they had ceased diecast operations and had become a part of the Casio computer group.
