Based in Los Angeles,California, Applause made and marketed gift items.

In the 1990s, they made the "Days of Thunder" stock cars for a Hardee's promotional offering using a Pontiac Grand Prix model car painted to look like the City Chevrolet sponsered Chevy Lumina. These carried the 'Applause' name on their base.

They also marketed other mostly plastic toy cars licensed by other Hollywood production houses.

Those 'Days of Thunder' cars have previously been identified as Summer castings. (I don't know the source).

I think that they probably did have them made by another factory as well. And it may very well have been Summer. I am also thinking there were other Days of Thunder castings offered by other brands back then as well.

When you run across your source again let me know and we can make the adjustment. From the source information you do remember - did they give a corresponding Summer casting(s)?

For right now though, it is referenced by the diecast encyclopedia in (2) different listings there as being made by Applause. Though some of the encyclopedia listings are not always accurate or consistent either.

Here is the Mello Yello one https://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/1474-diecast-manufacturer-brands/585657-applause-mellow-yellow-days-thunder-car.html that @Mrzllewellyn posted.

Does anyone have other images of the Hardee's promo castings?
