For the past while, I've been considering models as if they're made from cast copper or bronze as a display piece for a mantle or a coffee table just as you might see a sculpture of a bird or something.

My thought was to paint it the gold or copper or whatever and give it shades of black and patina green to make the models seem less like toys to the uninitiated and more like centerpieces for your room.

For example; the Klingon K'tinga. Maybe paint it a deep shade of bronze and dry brush on some gold or copper or a brighter shade of bronze to make it appear as if it were oil-rubbed.

Or maybe the Spock with Snakes diorama; Paint it all a light brass and give it a wash in green zinc or some other light green and then spear some gloss black wash in a few places.

thanks for reading!

If you go to Michaels, etc. They have some very nice Patina paints. I have used the two part Rust finish... but they have green, etc for various metal effects
