Although I have extensive experience and tools to work with model RR and other modeling, I am working with diecast for the first time. Can anyone help by directing me to sources that will explain correct disassembly? I am working on a Revell Metal 1:18 2001 Audi TT. Thanks.

I took a look at the site that was recommended. It seems to concentrate on the very small Hot Wheels cars. The 1:18 I am working on is much more complicated with a detailed engine, interior panels, review mirrors etc. I don't want to just start prying things apart unless that is the only option. Is there any site or resource that addresses the disassembly of larger scale models or at least explains how they are put together? Thanks again.

To some degree, 1:64 and 1:18 customizing info is based on the same principal.
(common sense to some, balls out-artistry to others)
of course,with your experience building model RR-ing, I'm sure you knew that.
but..we wouldn't wan't you to chance screwing up a 50 dollar model.

apparrantly, there are a lot of collectors here, who post pics of thier 1:18 customs, etc.
Come back and visit sometime, when you feel like detailing 1:64's and other scales, with the realism of your 1:18's.:wave: also,love to see pics of your project when your done!:thumbsup:

The key to taking apart large scale cars is take your time, especially if you're reusing the parts. The chasis is usually screwed on so that's the easy part. Different manufactuers use different methods of holding on the the other parts. The wheels on the cars can be a problem especially on well made cars. I'm not too familier with Revell 1/18s so I can't help you with your particular car. Let me know if you have any disassembly questions, I work with alot of 1/24 cars and have done a few 1/18s. If you can supply pics they would be helpful.
