Here are some pictures of JL '69 Impala convertibles both top up and top down that I had been working on.
I took the castings completely apart, did interior and dash swaps on some of them.
Or made top down versions from the top up only black and blue releases.
It was a challenging task. It is not easy to remove the dashes or tops from these castings. The extra time and effort paid off.
I also did some tire and wheel swaps on them.
This is the first time that I have attempted to take pictures and post them on HT. With more practice, I will become better.
Hope that you enjoy them!

Somehow, I can't post the picture of the blue ones.
I did something wrong in editing, posting, saving, ???? Sorry.
BYW, I ran out of top down versions of the red Impala.
And a huge thanks to Tony K. for having this casting made.
It is a nice one.

Cheers. Cobra

Nice work! I bought several extra castings of this car to attempt this myself some time. Seems to me that there were only two top down versions, off the top of my head; the red top down, and the Gold Series car

Cobra - those are awesome. I especially like the red with the black roof. Did you paint that or use a marker?
I used flat black paint on it.
I forgot to paint it when I had the top completely off, so painted it after I had re-installed the top. A momentary platimum blonde memory lapse, I guess.

60sMetal, I had mentioned that I had done these versions; so I decided that I had better take some pictures to show some of you that I had actually done them.
I think that you had asked for them.

Rich, I believe that there may be three top down versions.
The green one from the Gold Series for sure and possibly the green chrome
one from the 2006 Holiday Classics.
I am not completely sure on the Holiday Classic version.

BYW, Aqua XK8 had mentioned that he had done a bunch of these conversions that he showed at either LF or Johnny Jam last year.

Rich, it was fun. If I get the Gold Series versions and Holiday Classics version,
I would attempt to customize them, too.
You should give it a try. Just be very careful removing the dash and
windshield from the front. And they're not easy to put back together.

The green holiday classic is a top up version.
Thanks. It would make a great top down version.

Gee, all I need are a couple of it and some more red top down versions
of Tony's Impala and I am back in business.
Look what Tony started. It's all his fault; I tell you!!!!!!!!!!
Only kidding Tony. Thanks for the casting.

Boogievanman, very nice.
I put Cragar SS wheels with white lettered tires on my two custom black versions.
They look great.
Happy to see someone else is having some pleasure playing around with this casting.
Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I started on one, and realized I'd have to drill out the rivets and take the car apart. :drunk:
