2014 Hobby Haven Off-Road Shootout

We are 1 week away from the start of the 2014 Shootout, and for the racers that are new to this event I wanted to explain how the parking situation will work again this year. Hobby Haven shares the strip mall's parking lot with other businesses so during the Shootout we will have some signs posted to help inform you where you can park at.
If you look at the map the green zones are ok to park in all weekend long.
The yellow zone is off limits only on Friday.
The red zone is off limits all weekend long.
The blue area is where we pit. So drop your cars off and then move your vehicle so the next racer can drop off their gear too. Since we are pitting outside in the parking lot here is a list of recommended items:
Tent
Pit table
Chair
Extension cord
Pit light
Power strip
Tire wash bucket
FM radio
There will be additional parking by Sunday as most of the other businesses are closed in the strip mall near Ted's Coney Island West, but our main concern are the 2 businesses located right next to the Haven in the red and yellow zones.

Here is a sneak peek at this year's hardware! The image on the left is a 1st place trophy and the image on the right is what the TQ award will look like.
We will be awarding trophies for all 10 A Main drivers, plus drivers 1-3 in the B Mains. So this means the top 13 in each class will be bring home some awards again this year!
LRP America (www.lrp-america.com) is also new to the Shootout this year and they have donated some cool gear like t-shirts, a large pit towel, and a "Big Mama" LiPo pack!

All A Main finalists that aren't currently sponsored in either category are eligible to win both of these great prizes. If no one in the A Main group qualifies then we will move on to the lower mains until we find our winners.
Plus, all drivers in the A and B mains will be eligible for a possible ORCA sponsorship!
Back for this year's Shootout is the "Quest For The Red Plate. Thanks to FactoryOne 9http://www.factoryone-rc.com), racers who TQ their class will receive a white number 1 sticker with a red background. Positions 2-10 will run stickers with black numbers and a white background. These will only be used for the Mains.
The “Red Plate” in motocross and supercross designates the current leader in points, and we thought it would be cool to add this element to our race program. This will help to recognize the TQ's achievement and for race fans to identify the cars better since they can see the numbers.
Again these numbers will only be used in the Mains and we will also hand out sponsor sheets for all A Main finalists too.
Another new sponsor to the Shootout this year is Matrix Concepts (http://www.matrixracingproducts.com). They offer a variety of accessories for motorcycles and bicycles, plus some great cleaning products under their 1.7 brand. Lucky racers will receive a gift certificate good for 40% off any order on their website!

Team Losi Racing is our official Gold Sponsor for this year's race. Not only are they sending Dustin Evans to the Shootout, but they are also donating some awesome door prizes like a TLR 22 2.0 kit, shock pliers, yoga style pit mats, and much, much more!
NOTE: This kit is also now the 2014 ROAR Champion too.

Along with those great prizes they will also have a representative at the track during the Shootout handing out some discount meal vouchers. All of these vouchers and coupons can redeemed at their Urbandale store located at Douglas and 86th street which is about 1.2 miles from Hobby Haven, but only during the weekend of the Shootout.
Since the forecast for this weekend changes each day we have decided to extend the cut off date for a full refund to 7pm this Thursday (28th). Hopefully by giving everyone another 24 hours they can determine if they still want to attend the race or not. Since this is an outdoor track there is always a chance of poor weather conditions, so we will leave up to the racers to decide if they want still attend of not.
Once we get past the cut off date there will be no refunds, even in the unlikely event that the race is completely washed out. If we experience some minor weather delays then we will adjust the race program as needed, so that means we might have to drop a qualifier, run double or single A Mains, etc.
