FYI currently there are about 60 entries signed up online, but only 6 have actually paid for their entry fees. When you sign up online you are prompted to pay via PayPal. A warning was sent out on Monday to all the racers signed up online who haven't paid yet. Today is your final warning so get those entries paid for otherwise your entry will get the axe tomorrow. And remember if you pay now you can always request a refund up until 7pm on 8/27/14. Thanks for your cooperation!

I'm happy to officially announce today that we have hired Sam Anderson as this year's Shootout race director and track designer. Sam has been heavily involved in the local RC scene the last few years acting as both the race director and track designer for the Electric Pit and 80/35 Raceway.

He has directed many large race events like the 80/35 Spring Classic and Iowa Outdoor Summer Series, plus he is an accomplished local racer. Sam will also be lining up an experienced, dedicated track crew to oversee track maintenance that weekend, and is a great addition to this year's Shootout!

CowRC is the official sponsor of the Shootout Sportsmanship award at this year's event. The award is custom jumbo (24" x 30") magnetic pit with matching vinyl. Here is a sneak peek of what that award will look like.

To earn this award a racer must go above and beyond at this year's Shootout. Who is ready to step it up at this year's race and take home this pit mat??

As promised here are some sneak peeks at some of the door prizes that will be given away at this year's Shootout.

Castle Creations is back as a sponsor again at this year's Shootout and they are hooking racers up with two Mamba Max Pro and two Sidewinder 3 ESCs. They are also giving away two 10A BECs and some vouchers for 30% or 50% off of retail purchases on their website.

One of our new sponsors for the Shootout this year is Pledge and they have donated four cans of their lemon scented cleaner. You can use this to clean your RC car or your mom's china cabinet. Whatever you decide to do with it is up to you and is great to see some more "non RC" companies stepping it up this year as an official sponsor.

A few Shootout sponsor updates for everyone this morning. Our Mod 2WD Buggy sponsor has changed from VBC Racing to ORCA (http://www.orcarc.com/en/index.asp). The same parent company controls both organizations, and they felt that ORCA would be a better fit for this event.

So as our Mod 2WD Buggy class sponsor they will be giving away one of their brushless ESCs and a LiPo battery. All A Main finalists that aren't currently sponsored in either category are eligable to win these great prizes. If no one in the A Main group qualifies then we will move onto the lower mains until we find our winners.

Plus, all drivers in the A and B mains will be eligible for a possible ORCA sponsorship. They produce ESCs, batteries, and motors so this is a great opportunity!

Look for teaser images of these great prizes in the next few weeks, and good luck to all Mod 2WD Buggy drivers!

The 2nd update this morning is that Hy-Traction Juice is back!

This past Spring they ran into some issues with shipping via UPS and all production of their great products had ceased. But I talked to them yesterday and they confirmed that they are back up and running now, and will still be supporting the Shootout this year!

Finally, at this time the Shootout has 71 great sponsors, but there are possibly 2 more on the way! Once we confirm the information with these potential sponsors we'll make the official announcement online so stay tuned!!

Duratrax has signed up to become our 72nd sponsor for the Shootout, and this marks the first time they have officially sponsored our little event.

We also have a few more potential sponsors in the works so keep checking back here for the latest info!

FYI, if you plan on taking advantage of the hotel deal we have in place with Comfort Suites at Living History Farms, you now have 2 weeks to reserve a room before they are released back to the general public. Take advantage of this deal before it's too late!

Otherwise, you might have to get creative when you need a place to sleep that weekend. :)

More prizes are coming in each week for this year's Shootout! Here is another picture of that special Shootout Sportsmanship award courtesy of CowRC. This custom jumbo (24" x 30") magnetic pit is huge and can easily fit a 1/8 buggy or 1/10 short course truck. Again ,to earn this special award a racer must go above and beyond at this year's Shootout.

Who's ready to earn this custom pit mat!?!
