Nice looking track. Wish I lived closer to Iowa but unfortunately a trip from Ohio is out of my RC budget. Good luck this season.

Dfrcr

This is a test post to see how this Hobby Talk Forum thing works. The DFRCR Dirt track seems to be in pretty good shape from the cold snowy winter. Waiting for water hook up to work on the dirt track. Maybe Saturday afternoon work on the track.

Let the racing begin!!!

Hello racers!!!

Starting tomorrow night we will begin out 2014 racing season.

"Gates" open at 5:30pm
Hot laps around 6:15pm
First round of qualifying at 7:00pm (2 rounds of qualifying)
The mains around 9:00pm

I know the weather isn't the best but if you bring a pop up tent and a heater, look at all of the old friends you will see and all of the new friends you will make!!!

The rain looks like it has moved out of the forecast for tomorrow so we are going racing.

Hope to see you all there!

Just to let everyone know, we have not cancelled the races for tonight at this point. I know the rain is coming in, we will just wait it out til about 5:00 - 6:00 to make a decision about the races. Remember, we have the tarp on so the track will be saved from the rain. We will just see when the rain moves out of here.

Keep your fingers crossed. We will let everyone know more later this afternoon.

Thanks,
Craig

Sorry I didn't get back on here last night to tell everyone we weren't racing. I figured that the rain falling was enough for everyone to see and know.

On a brighter note - We are racing this Saturday and the weather looks great. Sunny skies and high of 65°.

"Gates" open at 5:00pm
Hot laps around 6:00pm
First round of qualifying at 7:00pm (3 rounds of qualifying)

Hope to see you all there!

Thursday Night Racing

Well it is Thursday again and the weather is rotten. At this time we will be at the track tonight but it will be a practice night. We will be at the track tonight to work on a few things and if anyone comes out to practice, we will pull the tarp.

Thursday Night Racing

I know there is rain moving into the area but remember we have a tarp so we are going to try our best to get the races in tonight. I spent 2½+ hours on the tractor last night working the track, scrapping and poking holes, water, poking holes and scrapping, patching holes, scrapping and watering. I didn’t do all of that just to get rained out. So, we everyone to pack up and be ready to race and do your ANTI-RAIN DANCE to help us out. Tonight is going to be the best we have had this season as far as the temperature, just need the rain to stay away, so start dancing.

I think the track will be at about its best we have seen this season for tonight do to the moisture and traction. I almost walked out of my shoes walking across the track to put the tarp on it last night at 11:00pm.

Hope to see all of you tonight at the track, ready to race!!!

Thanks to everyone who came out last night to race. It was good to see 6 car fields of Revo's and the Sliders. Also, good to a new track class, the SC Mods on the track last night.

As a reminder, we are racing tomorrow night. Come early if possible, we were kicking the idea around about starting early like 6:00 instead of 7:00. Please chime in here to let us know if you think that is a good idea or not. The reason for even thinking it was because Mother's day being the next day. The weather is forecasted to be pretty good with showers late tomorrow night. Remember, they had rain forecasted for last night and we got the races in with no problems.

Hope to see you all there tomorrow night.

Thursday Night Racing

Well it is Thursday Night Racing again. The sun is trying to come out to warm things up. By the head count there last Saturday, it looks like the Modified body classes (Sport Mod and the SC Mods) are starting to grow. Starting to get some good competition in each of the classes.

Remember:
"Gates" open at 5:30 pm
Hot laps around 6:15 - 6:50 pm
Racing starts at 7:00 pm
2 rounds of qualifying and then the mains.

Hope to see everyone there.

There have been 4 - 5 SC Mods there on last Thursday night of racing and I know there are more out there being built.
Gearing - don't know. I do know that I have had a couple SC Mod drivers ask if it is ok to put a smaller spur on.

Jason - when I ran sprints I was running an 8.5 with about 24/88 or a 10.5 with about 27/88. Timing was minimal, 2-4, straights are too short to take advantage of a lot of timing. Should give you a place to start.
