WDRA Super Dirt Series to Kick Off At Radio HillThe 2007 WDRA Super Dirt Series will kick off on Saturday March 24th at Radio Hill Raceway in Dundee, NY. The lightning fast track will host the WDRA season opener for the 3rd straight season, and has seen some great car counts and great racing during that time.
Radio Hill regular Bob Mott has to be the favorite going into the event whether he enters, stock, modified or both. His dominance of Radio Hill over the past several years has been well documented. 2006 series champion Matt Olmsted is coming off a big win at last month’s Trac Masters Open at RHR, and will be looking to reach victory lane again. Dylan Watier has been frequenting RHR this year and will be looking to take top Modified honors along with a host of other top drivers from throughout the northeast.
Over in the Big Block Stock ranks, defending WDRA champion Dan Gill will look to begin a title defense. 2006’s other top point men, Dale Hartzell, Jeff Hotaling & Jim Carr along with Mott and Watier will all surely be threats to win as well.
In the Small Block division, it looks like the field might be wide open as 2006 champion Sean Leonard has been running in the Big Block division in 2007. This should make EJ French one of the favorites. Mike Jeffery is expected to be a contender along with Jan Poyneer, Cliff Weeks and Joe Rodriguez.
Doors will open at 9:00am with the heats going off at noon. Radio Hill Raceway is located at 1219 Shannon Corners Rd. in Dundee, NY.
In other WDRA news, the raffle for the CDK car is still going on. Almost ½ of the tickets are sold, so they are going fast. Hopefully we can give this thing away at the second or third race. I appreciate everyone’s support so far!
I’ve updated the rules page on dirtoval.com to reflect the 3 allowable drops for this year. If you can’t make it to one of the races, you can still get a good finish in the points!
