More JL at Walmart in last 2 weeks than in last year.

I never found a white there all year and I found 2 in last 2 weeks. Also many nice cars showing up on a regular basis. Tonight I left 3 PIP Firebirds and 3 BWF 62 Chevys. Is it just the Christmas rush or is RC2 opening the floodgates?

PM/RC2 release about the same amount of cars every month. So what your seeing is Christmas stock. Dont get your hopes up because them stores will dry up soon, unlike us On Line Dealers that keep new stock all year long.

Yes that was a shameless plug, but it was for all of us not just me.

The same 3 Clues have been hanging on the peg at the WM near me for the last 8 months. Nothing else! I thought they were supposed to be the world's largest toy seller? Must be something other than diecast I guess.

I think there ARE more than ever, I have been collecting hard for 7 years , and I have never seen more product available than the last few years. If your collecting for value, your in trouble . Collect because you like em, not because someone told you about the limited white versions that sell for $xxxx on fleabay.

We certainly are NOT getting new JLs at any Walmart store in Canada that I know of.
Still the same: Clue, Spiderman, old Import Heat, more Spiderman, more Clue, throw in a mix of left-over 50th Anniversary Corvette, and a very few Street Freaks which seem to consist of the Import Heat sub-set that no-one is buying. You get the picture.

Until the 9000 or so Spidey and Clueless are sold, I don't expect to see anything new for a very long time. I hope that I am wrong on this assessment.
Gee, maybe Walmart Canada is so overstocked with Clue and Spiderman because some internal buyer screwed up, that we may not see any new JL for years.
I hope that is not the case.

Are there any Canadians on this forum that are actually seeing new releases of Johnny Lightning on a regular basis or very recently.
I would certainly like to hear about it.

ToysRUs recently got some more JLs.
Guess what?
About ten boxes of Classic Gold 22.
All the black Camaros are gone. And so are the yellow '55 Chevy 2-door.
So this leaves us with 20-30 Jeeps, Ford Fairlane 4-doors, and others that no-one is buying. And the worst part is the fact that they are on generic blister cards without photo-cards of the castings. So here too, we probably wouldn't see any new JL for who knows how long.

Most of you American collectors just don't realize how good that most of you have it.
I think that I would be more than happy to trade places as a JL collector.

Cheers. Cobra

So Cobra that's where all the CG22 cars went! I still wonder where all the WLs of that Camaro are. Only remember 2 on Ebay and maybe one other posted that someone found in Canada on the different card.

As for WMs, there is a definite increase in the JLs. One here has gotten 5 cases in the past 3 weeks, even when the pegs were pretty full to begin with. Another had several clip strips, moved the remnants to fill the pegs, and then got a few more clip strips in! It has been a mix of old and new, have found several different 10th ann cars, but still not the Ecto that I would like to get.

Not sure where you are located accobra64, but in central Ontario where I am the story is the same as you described above. I did see a few generic cards with some Classic Gold 24 cars (the taxi) and Lightning Strike 2004 R2 (the Hummer and the GTO). I was in Oakville earlier this year and spotted some HotRod Magazine R2 cars... more old news I'm afraid.

I guess we'll just have to keep ordering our JL's online.

Greg

Greg, that is what I have been doing for the most part, ordering online.
I have never seen Hot Rod Magazine R2 cars anywhere.

Other than mentioned, I did find the Chevy Thunder orange '67 Camaro (card says '68, but it is a '67, believe me) and the yellow Chevy Chevelle with black stripes from one on the newer releases, I think that it was CG25 in one store. There were a few other newer releases with these castings but not much to pick from.
With all the castings on the generic cards without photo-cards, it is rather difficult to identify what series they were from, unfortunately. I do remember Lightning Strike release 2. This was at a store that was NOT overflowing with Clue, Spiderman, and old stuff. I have not seen anything new there since.
But they did get a bunch more of you guessed it, Clue and Spidrman, afterwards.

Cheers. Cobra

Mike, it is possible that the WLs did come to Canada.
Many of them could still be sitting in the TRU main Canadian warehouse or sitting in the stockrooms of the stores.
In fact, I have not bothered to look to see if there could be WLs.
I assume this is the case with a lot of other Canadian JL collectors.
We NOT, and I stress do NOT get JLs in Canada that are WLs as far as I know in the recent past.
I have asked this question of finding JL WLs in Canada many times in the past on many BBs. No-one has responded to the positive as far as I know with the exception of a couple isolated cases. Active collectors with JL collector buddies have also said that they have not heard of WLs in Canada at any Walmart ever.
The few WLs that have turned up have been found at TRU.
I had once heard a rumour that any and all WLs for Walmart Canadian distribution were removed before being packaged and shipped to Canada.
As I have stated that this was a rumour, I have no facts to substantiate this fact one way or the other. But I would not be surprised if this was the case when you consider the amount of JLs sold at Walmarts in Canada over the years and no-one ever confirming that a WL was found at a Walmart.

Yes, a lot of CG22 came to the ToysRUs stores in Canada.
I will have to take a trip to TRU store to check the CG22's for WLs.
Who knows, maybe I can find one here.
Gee, wouldn't it be wonderful to find the black '67 Camaro on a Canadian card that was a WL. Now that could be a rather rare casting.

Guess what, I have a Lightning Strike release 1 blue 2004 Nissan 350Z that is in fact a WL. It has been sitting on top of my work centre with my HT Nissan 350Z from Bobby Williams along with the rest of the castings from release 1 of Lightning Strike 2004. While typing this reply, I thought maybe I should check to see if I might have a WL. I had bought this set when they came out at TRU and just never thought about checking them. Anyway, this baby has a white interior and white base.
I have to run, as I have to go outside and go "waaaaaaahoooooooo and do the dance". I would do it in the house, but I don't want to put my cat into shock.
I will be back later. Got to go.

Cheers. Cobra

My heart is still pounding.
Thank-you ToysRUs Canada for making my day.
What more can I say!
WOW!

Cheers. Cobra
