AMT MAtt Jefferies D7

This auction makes a certain claim. Tough to prove. Check it out.

Seems kind of pointless unless it had some signature of Jefferies' on the box even if it is true...

I think this was the same guy who was selling an alleged D7 filming miniature which supposedly did have a letter of authenticity from Jefferies...

Never learned of the fate of that auction or the authenticity of the prop though.
Regardless, without Jefferies signature or the signature of the AMT president or designer I don't see the point...

Yep! No way to prove anything there. Surely just another eBay scam.

Given the number of items recently auctioned off by the Jefferies estate via Profiles in History it seems likely the item is authentic.

Where's the certification?

Why is this on regular eBay live aution vs. 'Profiles in History'?

I don't believe it.

It is a Profiles in History auction.
They have a few of the lower priced things up in regular auctions, then have the big buck items going at a live auction.

The point I would make is what proof of the claim is there?

Jefferies' estate or anyone else in the chain of representatives could have made up the whole story before selling it to "Profiles in History." And of course, Profiles in History could also be making it up.

I'm not saying it's not possible. I'm only saying that without some autograph or certificate what is the point?

There is nothing written on the box nor a letter from Jefferies stating what is being claimed. Not even a photo of him receiving it or with it.

Once purchased, anyone who buys it also has zero proof that it's the same one he bought.

So what would the point of buying it be?

Yes, there should at least be some sort of official affadavit confirming that the model was at least in Jefferies' possession (part of the estate).

Refresh my memory, didn't the Profiles in History guy once buy what was supposed to be an original Klingon D-7 filming miniature from the guy who pulled the Unobtainium scam?(not that Profiles was involved, I seem to remember he had purchased some of his stuff from the guy who pulled the scam though...)

It's up to $300 now.

Same person is selling a "orginal Concept drawing" of the Klingon Battle Cruiser as well with "Jeff" signed in the bottom corner.....What I've seen of Uncle Jeff's signed pics.....is Jefferies..not Jeff

Like William Shatner signing BILL

Don't misunderstand me. I don't know that the "first kit" auction is a scam. Story may be 100% true. However, why would you want to shell out that kind of dough for such a thing? You could probably by two or more of the same production year's run for that price.

Unless the box was autographed somehow someone could never then prove that it's the original if they ever wanted to sell it.

Plus, who knows that some factory worker at AMT didn't put the first five or ten kits on the side for his kids unbeknowst to his boss?

So even if the President of AMT thought it was the first, unless AMT's president watched it go down the production line, plastic injected, sat there and waited for the parts to be cooled, pulled, bagged, boxed, and then also signed the box, I don't see the point. You could never be sure it was really the first one, even if you didn't intend to resell it.

Simply seems ridiculous to pay that kind of money for something when there can be no real guarantee given, and there are thousands out there that are indistinquishable from it...

Just my two cents.

Jefferies authentification aside, that IS a fairly collectible kit.
