"DSO exploit" is a vestige of earlier versions of MS Explorer that spybot and some others consider to compromise your PC's security. Make sure all windows software is current (go to microsoft windows update).

"HKEY" sounds like whatever is detecting the problem (norton?) has found something fishy in your PC's "registry".

You may have an ad-trojan that is not being removed/prevented by Norton. I strongly recommend spybot search and destroy and ad-aware. Neither program is perfect at removing unwanted ad-software. Sometimes you just have to format the hard drive and re-load everything.

It's a war against unscrupulous advertisers.

Here's more on the DSO thing. Even with your windows software current, it may still get flagged as a problem...

If all your critical updates are installed you are protected against DSO Exploit and the finding in Spybot is just a nuisance. Eliminate this by doing the following:

1 Open Spybot and select 'advanced' mode.
2 Select 'settings' in the left column.
3 Select 'ignore product' in the left column.
4 Select 'security' tab.
5 Place check mark in box beside DSO Exploit.
6 Close program
7 Open Spybot and run a scan.

You will find that DSO Exploit has been eliminated and if your computer does not harbour any other spyware you will see a congratulatory message.
from this forum.

Here's more from the maker of spybot:

Hello all,

The problem with the DSO Exploit is a little bug. We have already been able to locate and fix it, but unfortunately it was not included with the last update. It will hopefully be with the next one.
The DSO Exploit is a security gap in IE. Microsoft did already repair this, so if you have all Windows updates and patches installed, it is not dangerous for your system.

I hope that explains the situation.

So, the solution is just waiting for the update
