Progress being made on my Moebius BSG Battlestar

I've been spending some time on the Moebius BSG Battlestar. Assembly was fairly easy although after applying the Tamiya XF-56 metallic paint I noticed I need to do a bit of seam cleanup on the engine pods. But then I started working on applying the Acreation decals. Now that is going to be a very tedious and time consuming job but if you look at the pictures it really makes a difference and turns out very nicely. I have screwed up a couple of times and found that by dabbing Tamiya clear smoke where I had a decal corner fold over leaving a blank spot, you can simulate the Aztec detail pretty good. It can be applied lightly or heavy to get the effect you want. Anyway, here are some pictures of my progress so far.

I like your aging/weathering on the hill. It definitely helps scale the model properly.

Here are a couple of more shots of the BSG after applying some more decals. I've mainly done the large surfaces (they are much easier) but have started doing ribs as well. I've basically finished one of the lower engine pods as well. Anyway, here are the pictures so far:

LOL, you're doing it exactly the opposite of me!

I've got the 4 engines and both landing bays done, and am now working on the main hull. Lots of fun, all those rib decals, huh?

I'll have to try your trick iwth Tamiya clear smoke. I've found there are a number of places where the rib decals are a little too short, and some locations where no decal is provided.

How easy/hard were the large bay garage decals to apply?

Do you mean those decals that go into the recesses in the sides of the main ship? If so they weren't too bad at all. Just make sure you make the surfaces are a bit damp as that will help you to position the decal. I didn't have much difficulty with them at all if those are the ones you are talking about.

Over 70% of my time is\n my shop since New Years has been on the Moebius BSG. Most of that is putting on those Acreation decals. I am now about 70% done with them and hope to finish up soon. I have also done some detailing with paints and washes and there will be a bit of that once all the decals are on. I'll be taking a week break with my wife for a cruise starting Saturday so there will be no work until late in the month when I hope to complete it. Here are four more progress shots.

how did they ever come up that kind of ship for a BSG? It's inlike anything that I seen in the first BSG shows.

That's because it's from the new version of the show

I only went with Acreation's armor decals. Applying all those other decals would've put me in a straight jacket!

Al, whenever Starlord sees threads that have to do with nuBSG, he likes to toss in his two cents and take jabs at the show, wether they have to do with the series' content or not. It's just how he rolls.

I know, but this was one of his posts that was actually understandable without translation. Made me feel like I had to answer

As an aside, Ron Moore said in an interview that he would've preferred the Galactica looked more like the original ship, but apparently he was overruled on that matter.
