Slash 4x4 shocks

I'm looking to replace the stock shocks that come with the 4x4 Slash. Thinking the big bore ones from Traxxas. Any other options? What are you guys running on yours?

Jeff

I run the Pro-Line Powerstroke shocks. I love them. I replaced the eclip on the piston with the Losi 3/32 e-clip and never had a problem with them since.

WOW I just looked into the Proline's and they are too much money for me. Looks like maybe the big bores. They are a little more in my price range.

Some Guys on RCTech are recommending Hot Bodies D8 shocks. There's a guy on eBay that sells them and if you are not in a rush sometimes you can get them cheap.

Another alternative is Losi Ten-T shocks. I have a set of those on my 4X4. The total price of all the parts needed to assemble a full set is about $55 from Stormer Hobbies (plus shipping, of course). They are bladder type shocks with rubber boots that are scaled down from the Losi 8 shocks and fit with no mods. They end up less expensive than a new set of Traxxas Big Bores (unless you use a Tower discount code).

I use the Traxxas shock end balls instead of the Losi balls to take advantage of the flange on the traxxas ball that keeps the shock end from coming off.

If cost is of concern, just get some aluminum top/end caps, and nitrided shafts. Rebuild very carefully. You don't have to spend mega bucks to get a good working suspension.
