Short course 17.5 Brushless help.

I have Traxxas slash an SC10 with Velineom Brushless speed controls in both of them with stock brushed motors. Looking to put 17.5 brushless motors in them to run on the dirt tracks. What are you guys an girls out there running an are you using the Velineon speed control? Thanks Ron.

Use the Velineon brushless motor, especially if you can get one from a 4x4 model. it'a rated at 3500kv which would be better (faster) then the 17.5 depending on what your going for.

If your looking to stay in stock class then yea the 17.5 is what you would need, otherwise the you can run 13.5 in it as well.

Thanks. Yes the Velineon motor is fast. Yes i am looking to stay in the stock class but tiered of buying the brushed motors. Will a 17.5 brushless motor from a diffrent brand work with that speed control? If so what is a good one? Or do I need to get a new set up?

You can try the 17.5 on your esc and just don't hook up the sensor cable. But you will find out real quick a major cogging issue. Offroad does not need the turbo or timing crap. Once you go sensored you won't look back.

If your gonna spend the money on brushless your better off moving up to MOD Corr and get the 13.5 or Velineon. I'm not sure how the stock class is in your area. Some of the tracks I've been to, don't usually get enough stockers to run a class so they all run in the Mod Corr class. Unfortunately it also mean more upgrades to be competitve, but just a thought.

That would be a sweeeet setup but a little pricey. There are lots of great deals on GTB's nowadays. They have always worked very well for me in off road applications.

Hobby wing makes a 17.5 sensorless motor that will work with the VXL speedo.Check with your RD first and make sure the sensorless 17.5 will be legal to run.If its a go the motor is 39.99 @ hobbypartz.com...By the way the VXL will run a sensored motor- look in the front under the on/off/program button. There is a sensor port there with a cap over it.I ran a VXL speedo with a novak 17.5 for quite a while after I first went brushless.
