Pierce Park Raceway grand opening in Muncie. Nitro's welcome
Pierce Park Raceway will reopen sometime in March or April depending on weather. You will be required to own a personal transponder and racing fees will be $10 for first entry and $5 for additional entry's. Trophy races will be as often as last summer.
Could someone tell me what class a stock slash 4x4 would run in...I saw that there was a stock slash class, but not sure if that was for the 4x4...i also saw a 4x4 open class and didn't know if i would have to spend a lot of money to upgrade batteries and motors etc..to be competitive..
The stock Slash 4 x 4 will be quite competitive in the open 4 x 4 class. The system that comes with it is quick and reliable. You can run up to 3 Cell Lipo and get a top speed of 70 mph. PPR is a large outdoor track so speed works well but the truck must also jump well.
Race Director Steve and guys who race there will be happy to help you with setup and advice. This is a friendly group of guys who unlike some tracks don't keep racing secrets. They love to see other racers getting faster and they love the competition.
Come out and visit or run your truck to check it out. You will be welcomed.
Hi my name is Steve Tweedy and I'm the race director at Pierce park Raceway. The open 4wd short course class was built around the Slash 4x4. I've allowed the use of 3 cell in this class cause I believe the Slash 4x4 could plant that power sucessfully. The Velinion is a very potent powerplant. I see no need for upgrade in power, just proper setup and driver control.
Steve is the man. Not only is he race director but he is a racer. He knows what racers like and will run the track that way. He is also willing to help anyone who has questions. Our racers are very friendly and usually you find us helping the other racers and sometimes repairing the competitions stuff.
Thats the way I'd like to have the races ran. As strange as it sounds it's true. I know I'm in it for the win But not at the cost of even one racer not having a good time. I'll always lend a hand to anyone that needs and respects it. I still need help today and will give honest help back even if your faster.
Several nitro guys have posted and PM with interest. If you like the sound of your nitro wound out and on the pipe you will like this track 150' straight with a large table top. Lot of speed and plenty of flight time. Check out the website and watch for pics as it gets closer to opening weekend.
Opens second weekend of April. Nitro on Saturday and electric on Sunday.
Some pics of last years track when they were testing and working on design of the track are now on the website. When we get some newer ones up, you will see the drivers stand, race directors area, more jumps, etc.
Since there are two PPR threads, I have asked Hank (moderator) to remove the one I started and we can use this one only. This keeps all info and posts in one thread, saves space, and makes it easier for people to find the thread.
Everythings going great. I'll have my part ready. Now we just need the weather to do it's part. If the nitro guy's don't show up I'm putting evening electric practice on saturdays. $5.00 all day. Already thinking of Friday practice.
