Foreign Emergency Vehicles

For some reason I've been into these lately. I thought I'd share some pictures. Most are Matchbox.

Burango Lamborghini Gallardo Polizia

This was on the clearance rack at K-Mart a couple of days ago. I have no idea what it was doing there, but for $1.50 I couldn't go wrong. I remember reading about the real Italian pursuit Gallardo a couple of years ago in a magazine and thought it was really cool. That and the Gallardo is one of my favorite Lamborghinis. All that combined with the fact that I had no die-cast Gallardo before this one came along practically forced me to take it home

These next 4 Matchboxes came in German and British 10-packs. I think they were a gift to my brother and me a few years ago from friends who had been in Europe, so I think that they were never widely available in the US.

German:

Matchbox BMW 3 Series Polizei (the front of the casting is detailed, the light just washed it out)

Matchbox Airport Firetruck Fueurwehr

British:

Matchbox Dennis Sabre London Fire Brigade

Matchbox Land Rover Ninety Metropolitan Police

This one didn't come in one of the 10-packs, but was recently available in the NSF lineup.

Matchbox Ford Falcon Police

And finally, not an emergency vehicle, but I think it fits in anyway. My parents brought this home for me after a trip to London. Pretty neat, authentic looking bus. The only thing I know about it brand-wise is a "Days Gone" logo and "MADE IN ENGLAND by Llendo" molded into the plastic base.

I wish I'd been more thoughtful about taking care of my die-cast when I acquired these, but they're in pretty decent shape still. Thanks for looking!

Cool bus! The brand is actually "Lledo", and was started by one of the Matchbox founders. Here is a link to Wikipedia write-up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lledo

I love the bus. Not to big on the others. The lambo would be nice to do a wheel swap and new lightbar.

Very nice! I'd love to find the buses and the cars (not trucks, FWIW) in 1/24 and/or 1/18. Thanks for posting the pics.

The Gallardo is probably available in 1:18, you just might have to look.

It's funny that you mention this, as I picked-up a stunning 1/18 Galliardo Spyder early this morning, along with several other very nice models. The Lambo is not a car that I feel comfortable adorning with stickers and glue - it's stunning as it is. I was hoping for a factory-made Police model.

Edit: typo

Auto Art made it in 1/43, 1/18, and even a slot car

Oh, gotcha. Well this one comes pretty close, it was a donation from Lamborghini.

The 1/18 is almost $80 shipped (lowest price per Google). I'm not at all comfortable with the cost, especially since I have a very high quality Gallardo that cost me about a 1/3-1/4 as much. Yes, I can afford it, but it simply makes no sense to buy it. At least for me. Hell, for the price, I could buy another Gallardo like mine, some Police decals and a light bar, and still have the funds for a nice 1/18 car or two of similar quality.

At the risk of sounding obnoxious, I live comfortably, because I keep track of the money. I have no trouble spending $80+ for a model, like I did for a AutoArt Evo IX. Sh/t, I just sent almost $200 at a diecast E-store (for 3 models). Given the Gallardo model I have, compared to my AutoArt pieces, it leaves nothing to be desired, if not setting a standard to follow.

As a point of disclosure, I have 7 AutoArt models - 3 of which are 1/18 (out of +100 very carefully chosen pieces, housed in Actylic, custom cases) - so I'm not apposed to spending more, if it's worth it for me.. This price isn't exactly begging me to buy, as much as I'd like to have one. I really do like the car....a lot.
