Train Show Find - Olds Omega

Hi Everyone,

Found this one today at the train show. 1973/74 Oldsmobile Omega made by Fun Mate. This car was a cereal premium. Never seen this one before until today.

That's great! What scale is it?

Does it have a launcher slot in the center of the chassis?

Excellent find. I'm jealous!

Hi,

yes, it does have the launcher slot in the middle of the chassis, and the car is 5 inches long.

It's a very nice model. It reminds me of the set of 1971/72 Fords and Mercurys that I got as a kid. They came individually shrinkwrapped on packages of Lifebuoy soap. I'll bet that they were made by the same company. The launcher was a little blue 'driveway' with a yellow spring-loaded piece that was inserted into the chassis, which then propelled the car forward when the rear of the launcher was pressed down. I remember having a T-bird, Maverick, Torino, Cougar, Montego, Comet, and Mustang.

I still have these cars but I don't know where they are stored. They were always some of my favorite "promos", because their body detailing is very realistic. The only minor drawback is the lack of interiors. Thanks for the reminder of these great little toys. I would love to know if any other models were released with your Omega.
