Put some thought into your posts, think "Do I have something people need to know?", "Is my post negative?", "Will my post add something interesting to this thread?" "Will my post anger someone?" "Will my post hurt someone?"
If you're posting to increase your post count, remember, post count means nothing in the long run, it's what you have to say that matters.
Quality versus Quantity.

I think everyone adds quick responses at times, both to bring up posts, and to simply add an agreement or opinion to what has been posted by others. Is it always well thought out? Absolutely not. As a famous writer said, "When it comes to typing the first thing that comes off the top of your head, what grows there is usually dead hair."
I don't think he was referring to message boards though
Could most of us make our posts more interesting? Sure. But part of the escape from the daily grind for most folks is not having to weigh everything that's said. Does the end result turn into a lot of light and fluffy responses thrown in? It sure does.
If I start a thread, I'm usually happy when anyone responds at all. And I've started threads that I might have felt passionate about where few or no one posted responses. I don't think it's possible to have a message board that inspires thoughfulness on any given subject all the time. And I do agree that I wouldn't want to read nonsense all the time either. I personally like a variety. If things get too dry in either direction, I lose interest. All sameness in any catagory can get bland over time. But in my opinion, as long as it isn't hurting anyone, have fun

We do not have to post on every thread, such as this one, but some of us like to acknowledge others on the board who have found something or just to congradulate them.
As long as we are not being negative or bashing someone, does it really matter if we reply to every post? Inquiring minds want to know.

You are thinking right, POSITIVE Posts are always welcome. This thread was to make people think. Seems to be working.

Boy I heard that, I truly try to post positive post as well, since this hobby appeals to my more positive side anyway. When my day here is done, I want folks to feel like I made it a better place, not pull it down.
Oops, sorry for posting. Though I truly did mean it, I was just trying to push my post count up!
Does post count truly mean that much to most members? I dug the 2000 mark, but past that, I can't say I ever paid that much attention again.
