'50 Olds Cowl & Chassis

As far as I can tell when a hearse/ambulance coach builder purchased the beginnings of one of their cars,
this is what they started with. It was called an "Incomplete Assembly".

Well the dust caps made a big improvement already!

Can't wait to see the finished product.

I think it would look good as one of those junkyard tow trucks.
What is the finished piece going to be?

It's done - this is it.
It's kind of a historic study of what I'm thinking is the beginnings of a hearse if you'll refer to my text.

Thanks.
To make it I ground away at the base untill all that was left was the "frame", "diff", etc.
Then I chopped the base in two right at the front door post area and flipped the rear half upside-down.
It left me with the trailing arms ONTOP of the axle tubes, but hey, it's the best I could do!

Looks like the old trucks they used to chop up to drive around the apple orchards when I was a kid.

the same cowl/chasis idea also applied to school busses and most anything that had a custom built body, they still buy them today in that configuration and have thier own body adapted to the cowl/chasis, you have a great display peice ........... keep up the good work

Yes, exactly!
Ironically your first name Wayne is the name of a long time builder of the famous Wayne school bus bodys.
Thomas and Superior were other names people should be familiar with.
And Superior also made hearses and amulances - still might.
