A great place for hunting in Connecticut

Dad'sCoronet and I have shared a little secret for some time, that was recently brought to light at Johnny Jam '07.

We've been hitting this quiet little spot in eastern Connecticut for going on two years now. At first, they only had old Johnny Lightning's, but this past year has seen them really step up their ordering of new product, to the point that they were invited to take part in JJ '07 and absolutely wowed everyone.

Jack and Flo are the owners of a little basement type shop in Danielson CT called The Toy Loft, and if you can stand some mustiness (a long standing leaky roof that is now under repair) they are slowly turning this shop into a very nice place to hunt for diecast cars of all types, sizes, and brands.

I recently stopped in to follow up with them on their success at Jam and was told that first of all, they had an absolute ball with everyone, and they wanted to thank US for inviting them! Flo also told me they sold a ton of Johnnie's as well. They brought some of the very latest releases, and let us all rip open the inners and score some whites, as well as bringing over a bunch of their older JLs too.

What little was left was brought back to their store and was quickly snapped up!

So if you're in the eastern CT (Danielson) area, stop in and catch the latest Johnnie's at their store and say "Hi, are you the folks from Johnny Jam?". They've got some great stuff, their prices are fair, and they'll put out whatever whites they find. Plus they're nice as hell to talk with

One of the best diecast secrets in al of New England, until now, that is!

(No, I'm not getting a thing for this - they don't even know I'm doing it, as they are "senior citizens" not hip to the computer age They're just good folks with a great shop that any JL lovers in the area should enjoy )

I assume those were the great folks whoe let us buy the sealed cases then rip into the unsold ones? The ones that I believe Pierre got a GREAT Grand National WL?! LOL. They were very nice. I will actually make it a point in the near future to take nice long ride down and stop in! Prolly sometime in the fall and enjoy some fantastic NE foliage too!

I've been there several times too and have bought some hard to find JL. I only wish he'd leave the lights on when I'm in the store, it's like searching for stuff in a dark cellar (and I don't like the smell either).
But they do have some cool stuff to sell, it's worth a trip there.

The first time I went to The Toy loft was the first time I met Rich. We were in Jack's store for about an hour and the mustiness was really bothering me. That issue has been much improved. What's really cool about this place is when you buy multiple items, Jack always gives you a deal. I made out like a bandit with him at Johnny Jam. At first, he wasn't too keen on coming to JJ but eventually came around and was looking forward to it. I don't think he and Flo expected to do so much business. More than likely, he will want to come to Johnny Jam 2008!

Yes, he had some reservations about a second dealer coming, but I hadn't realized just how much product Jack was actually going to be bringing. They did in fact ask about coming back next year, and I assured them they would be the only "new JL" vendor we would be inviting!

Jack has made a big commitment to fixing up the store and getting serious about his diecast; they're also putting in indoor batting cages too!

This is the shop where I picked up that $120 Danbury Mint Mobil Service Station set for $60, last year.

Yo Rich, that person who was selling older JL for one dollar each at JJam07, do they have a store? If so, where? I'd like to give them some more business.

No David, he sells only at shows. Perhaps we can get a large enough group of guys together this fall somewhere, and he'd be willing to set up some stuff for us.

One dollar Johnny Lightnings; where else can you get a deal like that anymore?

Well, I can say this- I WILL be going to the store. I WILL be bringing at least my wife and the big tall skinny kid from the Jam! I WILL be letting jack and Flo know how much I personally appreciated them being at JJ2. I WILL be letting them know I am excited they are coming to JJ3. And finally, THIS is the GREATEST place to find the BEST people in this hobby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK!! Time to form an Invasion Team!
For those of you who don't know, the northeastern part of CT where Jack's shop is has been nicknamed "The Quiet Corner".
Well, some Saturday in the Fall, that nickname will have to stand aside cuz there will be a new Sheriff in town ~ Diecast Mayhem will transform quiet little Danielson into a raging boomtown! Who wants in??

Hey Mark, yes, I'm due for another raid there too. Last time I was there was 6 weeks ago.
