Can't speak specifically to the Sebring, but these days there are many "micro-processors" on new cars that control electrical functions (power windows, seats, locks, etc.) and when something is changed, they might need to have their memory "flashed". Something only a dealership is equipped to handle for the newer cars. Same thing goes for these new air pressure sensor/monitor tires that are now hitting the market. When a tire is "rotated" or moved from one wheel to another, the computer has to be flashed to tell it which wheel is now where.
